About her: Ronel Suthers is a final year Masters of Nutrition and Dietetics candidate at the University of Wollongong. She has a keen interest in the use of nutrition research outcomes to advocate for public health interventions which promote health. Previously Ronel worked as a hydrologist in the fields of civil engineering and environmental management, advocating for soil erosion control.

The health benefit of whole grains is well understood, yet few countries have formal quantified recommendations for intake and global consumption levels remain low. The aim of this review was to identify characteristics of successful public health interventions aimed at increasing whole grain consumption, to inform future interventions.
